Synopsis:
In a bout before the World Title fight GLEN ‘PRETTY BOY’ MADDOX recovers from being knocked down to win in dramatic fashion. During the fight he has a mild stroke caused by the medication he’s been taking for his fight-ravaged hands. Simultaneously SARAH, his wife, goes into labor. Their son, JAY is born.
Sarah struggles with the needs of a newborn while fighting depression. One day Jay gets accidentally hurt and Sarah takes him to the hospital. There she learns the truth of Maddox’s condition. She issues Maddox an ultimatum; stop fighting or she leaves. He won’t stop fighting – Sarah leaves. Maddox now must care for his son alone and win the championship.
Eight years later Maddox has raised Jay himself and Maddox’s boxing career has taken a downward turn. Jay, unlike his father, is a brainy kid. Picked on my kids at school, Jay is trained to fight by Maddox. Jay ‘decks’ the kid that punched him out at school and races to tell his dad, but he falls unconscious. Jay has Leukemia and Maddox must find Sarah in order to save his life. Against Maddox’s wishes, she now wants back into her son’s life.
After Jay’s recovery, Maddox is offered another chance to get his championship title back. Maddox’s condition with his hands has returned. He risks putting his life in jeopardy for a fighting chance at the belt. He wins, but suffers a severe stroke. Sarah cries over his unconscious body, praying for a miracle.
Twenty years later, Jay Maddox, now a championship boxer like his father is in the ring, waiting for his turn at the championship. Sam and Sarah cheer him on. Jay looks over to a man in his corner, supported by a cane. The man gives Jay the nod, the bell rings. Maddox smiles.
